Plants helping us : Benefits of a Plant based diet

Switching to a plant based diet can have numerous benefits to humans. Of these benefits, lower blood pressure is one of them. Diets which are plant based contain a higher amounts of potassium which can lower your blood pressure. Foods such as legumes, nuts, seeds, and all fruits and vegetables contain high amounts of potassium and Vitamin B6, which are all agents that reduce blood pressure. Diets that high have very high meat contents, show to contain very little to no potassium that can actually lead to a raise in blood pressure. So when your blood pressure is lowered you in turn will help to reduce your stress and anxiety levels. Plant based diets can also significantly lower your cholesterol, as plants do not contain any cholesterol! So plant based diets can be used as a simple way to lower your cholesterol. Another benefit that a plant based diet can provide, is a lower rate of cancer. Animal based foods have in many circumstances been linked to cancer.

Consuming plants will also provide the benefit of reducing many inflammations that occur in your body. Consuming more meat will increase the inflammations on your body that can be linked to health issues such as, atherosclerosis, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and more. Pants are anti-inflammatory in their nature, as they are low in saturated fat, endotoxins, and other toxins.

Not only is consuming plants beneficial to our health as humans, but consuming plants also helps our environment! One of the leading causes of rainforest destruction is our very own food supply. In order to make room for things such as food crops and livestock grazing, we destroy the earths forests. This contributes with and overall loss of biodiversity. By switching to a plant based diet, we can help protect the environment that we live in. All of these reasons demonstrate why indulging in a more based diet can be beneficial!
