Study of Artic ice to decipher marine food webs

Investigate how algae in the sea ice contribute to the marine ecosystem that lies beneath it. The results revealed that some algae have the ability to live dormant in ice all winter, bloom when the sunshine in springs starts the growth cycle.This allows the algae to migrate down to the bottom of the ice to enter the water column, providing food to many marine organismsChanging climate could disrupt the sea ice community thereby affecting the Arctic marine food web
