Convention of biological diversity (CBD)

The 3 main objectives of CBD are:

  1. The conservation of biological diversity
  2. The sustainable use of the components of biological diversity
  3. The fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources

CBD addresses biodiversity issues as a whole; all ecosystems, species, and genetic resources are covered. Almost the entire world is a member of the CBD, with the exception to 3 countries- USA, Andorra, and Somalia.
